Welcome to the new school year. Community Service at OSC has seen a transition from students volunteering in existing projects to students initiating their own projects. They have in the past year used their knowledge and skill to work with the community around them and this has no doubt helped in the development of the personal and social skills. Service learning at OSC has taken many forms. We have at present 9 long standing projects and this year we had students initiating projects such Habitat for Humanity, Eco plus and raising funds for Cleft lip and palate surgeries.
Student leadership training which occurred for the first I believe has helped them investigate, plan, take action, reflect through their personal blogs and demonstrated their commitment to community service.
This year too we hope to encourage student initiated projects especially in higher grade levels. Student blogs will be uploaded to the Community Service web site which can be accessed by anyone.
